Muriel Thomas, a ceramist based in Aveyron, will be displaying her work in the showcase.
"I use the rope jar technique to shape my stoneware pieces to achieve a beautiful volume. I dress my pieces with engraved paths or polished nooks and crannies, enveloped in vitrified engobes. Isabelle Minchin is a guest member of our association Terres Neuves du Sud-Ouest. Throughout the month, you'll also be able to see one-off pieces by Michaella Smart.
Isabelle is based in the Pyrénées Orientales. "I use Burgundy stoneware and porcelain to turn bowls, salad bowls, jugs and teapots. I also model decorative and sculptural pieces. I'm amazed by glazes, and I'm currently working on traditional glazes based on iron in a reducing firing or copper in an oxidising firing; I fire at 1280°. I use oak ashes collected in the studio for my ‘iron blues’.
