It is a small church which bears witness to the traditional constructions of the valley of the Garonne. Built on the orders of the Abbots of Moissac, following a conflict with the Viscounts of Lomagne, this church is like the humble parishioners who lived in Moutet in the 17th century.To protect St Nicolas de la Grave of which they are lords, the abbots of Moissac created a defensive system 2km from the village. As time passes, an independant Bastide takes over from a site run only by armed men. Nowadays there are only a few old farms and this church.Our Lady of the Moutet is a mudbrick construction, restored with great care, it shows us techniques long forgotten but which arouses the interest of the modern builders!
