Born in Madagascar, Rija Ramanantoanina grew up in a musical environment, which allowed him to develop his talent early on in choirs.

An Authentic Artistic Approach

Since 1988, Rija Ramanantoanina has made a name for himself on the Malagasy music scene with a unique style, which he describes as "jazz variety," combining improvisation and sophisticated arrangements. The organ is his preferred instrument, but he also excels on the piano and various other instruments.
His creative process is primarily based on music and melody: "99% of the time, the music comes first. Then I look for the lyrics that fit it."
Unlike many artists, he considers songwriting to be a literary exercise rather than an autobiographical narrative.
