THE GENDARMES OF THE LAVIT BRIGADE IN THE RESISTANCE by the Lavit Maquis Association
Meet at Espace Perbosc, 2 bd E. Herriot
On June 8, 1944, two days after the Normandy landings, tensions between the Resistance and the occupying forces were at their peak. The gendarmes of the Lavit Brigade received orders to go to Castelsarrasin to be disarmed. Refusing to obey, at the risk of severe punishment, they devised a strategy with the members of the Carottes Maquis resistance group to escape this obligation. Come and discover the plan put in place by the Lavit gendarmes and the Carottes Maquis resistance fighters.

THE RAWA RUSKA CAMP by Alexandre Millet, historian
Meeting point: Espace Perbosc, 2 bd E. Herriot
Interned at Stalag 325, "those of Rawa Ruska" are sometimes considered former prisoners of war, former resistance fighters, or former deportees, sometimes all three. Alexandre Millet, PhD in History, discusses the captivity of French prisoners of war between 1942 and 1944 and the construction of their memory from 1945 onward, as the issues of memory remain relevant 80 years after the end of the Second World War.
