Les Dérives Sonores is celebrating its 7th anniversary!
Over the years, we have welcomed no fewer than 40 artists/bands from a national and international scene that could be described as "underground," often avant-garde, to discover musical curiosities (indie folk | dream pop | broken folk | post-rock | bluegrass | poetic trance | Japanese pop, etc.).

For its (roaring) 41st anniversary, Les Dérives Sonores is heading for the first time to the Eurythmie Hall (temporary home base of SMAC Le Rio Grande) to host an exceptional double-billed session. An exceptional session means exceptional artists for this event, which will feature the illustrious American singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur and multi-instrumentalist and member of the band Dionysos, Stephan Bertholio.
JOSEPH ARTHUR
FOLK-ROCK / USA
If anyone deserves the title "singer/songwriter," it's Joseph Arthur. Discovered by Peter Gabriel in the mid-90s and with numerous critically acclaimed albums to his credit, his poetic nature and experimental dynamism have earned him a deservedly excellent reputation.
Joseph Arthur is a tireless artist—both as a solo artist, as we welcome him on this Dérive Sonore, and as a member of Fistful of Mercy with Dhani Harrison and Ben Harper, and of RNDM with Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament. In 2024, he formed a new supergroup—Silverlites—with Rich Robinson (Black Crowes), Peter Buck (REM), with whom he released an album in 2018, and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees). Described as a fallen or cursed angel, with his guitar, pedals, and microphones, Joseph Arthur constructs truly whirling and captivating melodies live, which also give way to stripped-down, unadorned pieces inhabited solely by his voice. Joseph Arthur draws his inspiration from Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Buckley. The finesse of his compositions and the richness of his orchestrations make him one of the best American songwriters today.
STEPHAN BERTHOLIO
pop-folk / fr
Bassist, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist for over 25 years in groups such as Dionysos, Forest Pooky Quartet, Tango Juliett, and Corleone, Stéphan Bertholio will perform solo on this Dérive Sonore, accompanied by his folk guitar. Passionate about Anglo-Saxon pop from the 60s, he offers a stripped-down and intimate pop-folk subtly influenced by the world of the Beatles, the Kinks, the Zombies, or closer to us Elliott Smith or Andy Shauf.
