A sensitive and intimate performance in which actor and author Hervé Walbecq shares a finely crafted autobiographical story.

Sitting at the back of the classroom, Hervé shakes his head “no”, the heir to a long line of underachievers. Yet each evening, he says “yes” with his heart—to the animals he rescues and sets free, building an inner jungle full of life and poetry.

Seated in the midst of the audience, in an immersive quadri-frontal stage setup, Hervé tells his story on a large white carpet, gradually transforming it with earth as he draws the patterns of his life.

Blending personal narrative, love of living beings, and the liberating power of theatre, The Animal Thief is an ode to sensitivity, imagination, and resilience.
