Fishing

during COVID-19

Access to water bodies in the Tarn et Garonne Department has been authorised since 2 June by Decree n° 2020-663 of 31 May 2020, article 6.

Barrier measures, notably the physical distance of at least 2 metres, and groupings of less than 6 people must be respected (articles 1 and 3 of the same decree).

With more than 4,000 km of rivers and hundreds of hectares of water, the Tarn et Garonne is one of the most popular sites for fishing enthusiasts. Carnivore fishermen, anglers, catfish and carp fishermen are all happy in the great Tarn et Garonne environments.

Many specific courses are possible: no-kill courses, carpodromes, night courses, trout lakes.

What is a spinning rod?

A spinning rod is the traditional fishing rod. Without a reel, it allows you to discover fishing simply, with a cork and a maggot at the end of the hook. With this rod, the most important thing is to always fish where you baited; that’s where the fish and your fishing stroke are (hence the name “coup rod”).

To equip yourself for your first fishing, prefer a 3 or 4m model, accompanied by 3 pre-mounted lines, a bucket, 500 grams of bait, a cloth and maggots. Finally, don’t hesitate to ask for advice from fishing shops, they will be able to provide you with equipment adapted to your level and your budget.

Focus on a fishing spot: the Beaumont-de-Lomagne leisure centre

The Beaumont-de-Lomagne lake is famous for its carp, which can reach 110cm and weigh 45 kilos. The lake is bordered by a campsite and a leisure centre. You can swim in the swimming pool, rent a pedal boat, have a picnic on the spot, go for a nice walk around the lake, and fish from the bank. You can fish for roach with a rod (without a reel). With lures (casting rods), you will target more the black-bass: an American fish visible at the edge, with a black line on the side (black-bass), and whose fight is punctuated by candles and jumps out of the water when it is bitten.

A fishing and nature stopover in Parisot

Situated in the middle of nature and  near St-Antonin-Noble-Val, the lake of Parisot will allow you to take a breath of fresh air. It has large fishing areas on comfortable and safe banks, an easily accessible fishing pontoon and a launching ramp. The lake is stocked with roach and pike, making it easy for families and experienced anglers to discover fishing. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy all day, including swimming, a children’s playground, canoe and bike hire, a restaurant, a swimming area and a picnic area.
