Installed on the edge of the old moat is the Thouron fountain, an emblematic fountain in Caussade. In the basement, two vaulted rooms housing pools were made accessible by a double-flight staircase. In the middle of the 19th century, the stairs were buried and the monumental fountain built above one of the pools. Thanks to a pumping system, the Caussadais collected the water which then came out of two cast iron lion heads. The stairs were brought to light again during a restoration and enhancement campaign for the building that began in 2012.

Its function at this time still remains undetermined: was it used to supply water to part of the city's ditches? Or to feed the gardens installed outside the ramparts?

Today, the fountain consists of a limestone pedestal in neoclassical style. The pedestal is decorated with garlands of oak and laurel leaves which highlight the coat of arms of the town of Caussade: a tower (it refers to the ancient castle of Caussade) and a stocking (legend of the fairy).
